Category: CT- 05 Tour duration: 15N/ 16D Available: June to end of Sept Highlights of the tour: Explore Terelj National Park, learn nomadic life, see Mongolian traditional concert, see wild horse called Takhi known as Przewalsky horse to the world, explore central Mongolia and Khuvsgul lake, two humped camel riding. Tour Introduction This trip is the best way to get experienced Mongolia with the different aspects that make you feel Mongolian traditional lifestyle and magnificent landscape. We start the trip in the Ancient Capital Karakorum and then flying to Gobi Desert of Mongolia which is treasure of Mongolia and then head north to an area known to the Mongolians as “Mongolian Switzerland”. The trip finishes up on the shores of Khuvsgul Lake, one of the world’s largest freshwater sources.
Day 1: Ulaanbaatar
Arrive in Ulaanbaatar and transfer to selected hotel. After lunch, take city tour including Sukhbaatar Square, National History Museum and then visit Zaisan Hill War Memorial to get your bearings with a panoramic view of the whole city. Enjoy traditional concert and have a dinner. Overnight at selected hotel.
Day 2: Bayangobi. 280km (B/L/D)
Drive to Bayangobi and have lunch on the way. Arrive at the camp in the late afternoon. Visit in Uvgun Monastery in Khugnu Khaan Mountain. In the evening stop by a local horse breeder’s family. Overnight in tourist Ger camp
Day 3: Orkhon Waterfall. 200km (B/L/D)
Drive to Orkhon Waterfall. On the way visit Shankh Monastery to attend chanting and meet with the monks. Keep driving to Orkhon Waterfall and arrive at the waterfall late afternoon. There is Orkhon waterfall also called Ulaan Tsutgalan, formed by a series of volcanic eruptions about 20.000 years ago. It cascades from the height of 22 meters and is 10m wide. Have packed lunch on the way. Excursion to the beautiful Orkhon Waterfall. Hiking and photo session along the river. Overnight in tourist GER camp
Day 4: The Ancient Capital, Karakorum. 120 km (B/L/D)
After an early breakfast drive to Erdenezuu. Late afternoon arrive in Erdene-Zuu. Visit Erdene-Zuu, once one of the largest monasteries in Mongolia. Tour of the monastery grounds and several chapels with excellent examples of Buddhist iconography dating from the 16th century. Visit the ruins of Karakorum, the 13th century capital of the Mongol Empire. Overnight in tourist GER camp
Day 5: Tsenkher hot spring (B/L/D)
We will drive to Tsenkher hot spring, take a relaxing hot spring bath. We will walk in the surrounding steppes, there are plenty of options for independent treks depending on how fit you are feeling. Overnight in tourist GER camp (about 150 km)
Day 6: Tsenkher – Khustai National Park/ Ulaanbaatar. 400km (B/L/D)
Drive to Ulaanbaatar. On the way visit Khustai National Park to view the Przewalsky wild horses, recently re-introduced back into Mongolia. Arrive in Ulaanbaatar in the late afternoon. Overnight at selected hotel
Day 7: Ulaanbaatar (B/L/D)
Tour to Gandan Monastery, followed by a tour of the Fine Arts Museum. Lunch in the hotel. Free afternoon for your leisure time or shopping. Overnight at selected hotel.
Day 8: Ulaanbaatar- Terelj National Park
We will drive to Terelj National park. On the way of NP, we will visit to Chingis Khaan Equestrian statue that is the highest one in the world. In National park we will make small hiking to the temple and see the Turtle rock. After arriving in UB, we will drop you at the hotel. After freshening up from your tour, we will do some shopping. Overnight in hotel.
Day 9: Fly to Gobi Desert (B/L/D)
Take flight to Dalanzadgad city and then drive to our tourist Ger camp in the Gobi. In the afternoon, visit a camel breeder family for a photo opportunity, a camel riding session and to explore the nomadic lifestyle. Enjoy a peaceful evening in the Gobi Desert. Overnight in tourist GER camp
Day 10: Yolyn Am. 100km (B/L/D)
Visit Yoliin Am which is known as Eagle Valley, located in Gobi Gurvan Saikhan National Park for a morning trek and an opportunity to photograph the stunning landscape, the Gobi Glacier and intriguing wildlife. Packed lunch in the National Park and do leisure hiking. Return to tourist Ger camp. Overnight in tourist Ger camp
Day 11. Bayanzag – Flamming Cliffs. 80km (B/L/D)
A day trip to Bayanzag, known as Flaming Cliffs and explore the ‘Gobi Dinosaur Cemetery’ and the trail of Roy Chapman Andrews. En route Moltsog Els sand dunes and have a picnic lunch. After the excursion in the sand dunes, drive back to tourist GER camp. Overnight in tourist GER camp
Day 12: Fly back to Ulaanbaatar (B/L/D)
Take morning flight to Ulaanbaatar. Have lunch in the hotel. In the afternoon visit the Bogd Khan Palace Museum, beautiful Winter Palace of the last Mongolian Khan, who ruled until 1924. Overnight at selected hotel
Day 13: Fly to Murun/Khuvsgul Lake. 120km (B/L/D)
Take flight to Murun, the capital of Khuvsgul province and drive to tourist Ger camp at Khuvsgul Lake. Overnight in tourist GER camp
Day 14: Khuvsgul Lake (B/L/D)
Full day to explore the breathtaking alpine scenery of this beautiful lake. There will be an ample opportunity to experience local nomadic lifestyles. Free hiking and photo session along the shores of the lake, home to diverse wildlife and countless birds. Overnight in tourist GER camp
Day 15: Fly back to Ulaanbaatar (B/L/D)
Drive back to Murun town to catch a morning flight to Ulaanbaatar. Have lunch in the hotel; take tour to the Gobi cashmere factory for shopping for original and pure cashmere gifts and garments. Have farewell dinner. Overnight at selected hotel
Day 16: Departure (B)
After breakfast transfer to the airport or train station for your international departure.
